Specialty testers have their niches. By knowing when and how to use them, you increase their value. To help determine how specialty testers save time and effort, look to manufacturers and distributors, who are often keen on educating end buyers about a product’s inherent possibilities. Most manufacturers filter hard copy information through their stocking distributors; more and more manufacturers supplement that with content-heavy Web sites that not only give product specs but also explain when and why to use the testers. They might also run lunch-hour or after-hour seminars at distributor locations to familiarize potential buyers with their products. These provide easy, obligation-free opportunities for getting a look and feel of various products, along with detailed instruction on how to use them to best effect. Plus, you can ask questions and, hopefully, get immediate answers.Typically, electrical distributors carry higher-end products in a category than big-box retailers and will generally offer more substantial sales help and after-purchase support. Here are single- or multi-tasking tools that aim to simplify or streamline test within their respective domains.Gardner Bender Circuit Tracker GET1200 circuit breaker finder identifies circuits on which electricians need to work without having to turn breakers off and on to locate them.

This could be a welcome capability when a facility is occupied, and turning breakers off and on would be disruptive to occupants and equipment. The two-part tester sports audible and visual indicators and consists of a transmitter, which plugs into the receptacle in question, and a battery-operated receiver and probe used at the breaker panel or fuse box, without requiring removal of any components. An optional adapter kit for locating lighting fixtures and switch circuits is available. The sooner correctable situations along a circuit are found, the better. High-voltage drops and other problems with power can lead to energy waste, power inefficiency, possible damage to equipment on the circuit, and, at high amperes, increased chance of fire from excessive heating at high-resistance connections.Ideal Industries, Inc.

SureTest Circuit Analyzer 61-152 is a plug-in handheld circuit tester, with a digital display, that facilitates preventive troubleshooting on a live, loaded circuit without interfering with end user activities or causing disruption to equipment running on the circuit. The device applies a full 15- or 20-amp load to the circuit and then measures the voltage drop between the receptacle and the main panel. It also verifies proper GFCI operations and tests the integrity of the wire all the way back to the panel, locating loose wire connections, bad splices or receptacles, or high-resistance or false grounds. With an optional adapter, the unit can also verify isolated ground presence.

Why is my MSG-501 stapler not shooting staples? It has less than 100. Staples fired and it will squeeze the handle all the way down but the staple just falls out and no spring shooting action happens. It sounds like this is pretty common for this line of staplers, are there any solutions to fix it or is this a $40-50 piece of scrap? Maybe that is why the warranty is so short? I invite GB to reply and offer a solution as this was expensive to fire less than 100 staples and then stop working. Sat on a shelf and was used 3-4 times and then just quit working no abuse or neglect just shelf time between uses.

That should not kill a product advertised as Pro quality! GB what happened to this stapler and can it be fixed or replaced??

We have a winner! Thank you and congratulations goes to Jeff Kanter of Pieper Electric, Inc.

Jeff stopped in at our latest Contractor Day event. And saw some of our latest innovations like Gardner Bender’s Portable BendPRO conduit bender and the new line of Fire-Gard fire stopping chalk and expanding foam. He also became the grand prize winner of a brand-new 50” Samsung TVAWESOME! We hope you enjoyed the event and got something out of it.

We certainly do every time we have these. October meansRAMTOBERFEST!!!

We visited Ram Tool Construction Supply Co. In Romeoville, IL yesterday. We exhibited our rugged and efficient Bergen Industries t. Emporary construction lighting and NEW Gardner Bender Portable BendPRO.

The Portable BendPRO continues to surprise everyone because of it’s compact size and yet easily bends 1/2” — 1” EMT, Rigid, EMT Aluminum conduit and 1/2” — 3/4” PVC-Coated Rigid conduit all on a single shoe!A big thank you to the awesome folks at Ram Tool for having us at such a great event. A huge thank you to Peter Lauber and his crew at Staff Electric for letting us stop by their trailer near the American Family Insurance Amphitheatre renovation project this week. We brought the new Gardner Bender “Portable BendPRO' conduit bender along to show them how it works and to let them have a crack at doing some offset and saddle bends with it.

The unit only weighs 35 lbs and bends ½” — 1” EMT, Rigid, EMT Aluminum conduit and ½” — ¾” PVC-Coated Rigid conduit all on a single shoe! What’s even better is it’s powered so you won’t break your back and it’s priced so you won’t break your wallet. If you would like to see a demo at your site, sign up and we’ll contact you to set-up the details. Gardner Bender is celebrating 60 years of innovating tools, professional equipment, and electrical accessories for contractors.

From the humble beginnings of inventor James Gardner and his idea to make a conduit bending tool that would help electricians make precise bends in half the time, he designed and patented the first hand bender with leveling gauges. His hand bender was a success, and in 1959 James founded Gardner Bender.Be sure to follow our upcoming “Then and Now” 60th anniversary posts in the coming weeks as we celebrate!

Keep electronic cords organized and out of the way! Keeping the cords to your electronic devices organized is twofold protection: It prevents tripping accidents and it also keeps your electronics cords and cables from becoming kinked, crushed or broken underfoot from clumsy roommates. Internally broken cords can cause damage to the device they are plugged into and in extreme cases could cause a fire.Be sure to keep your cords contained with Cable Ties or items like the Grip.

The GripStrip™ is flexible raceway tubing that has an adhesive back that can stick to nearly any surface helping you organize that tangled mess of cords. Gardner Bender’s Steve Cvikel, Matt Fejedelem and Lee Newson were in Dallas Texas Wednesday conducting the conduit bending segment of The Evergreen Marketing Group’s 3-day “Phases of Construction Training”.Thank you to The Evergreen Marketing Group for inviting us and thanks to Acme Construction Supply Co, Acme Tools, American Producers Supply, Carson's Nut-Bolt & Tool Co., Fort Worth Bolt & Tool Co., Jensen Equipment, Inc., Morgan Tool & Supply, Total Tool Supply, Inc., Darragh Company and Dixie Construction Products, Inc.
